Makar Sankranti is a festival celebrated all over India in many different ways on the 14th day of January. The day marks the end of the month with the winter solstice and the start of longer days.
*Nursery to Grade 2 learners of Mount Index International School* had a taste of the festival during their collaborative play time on Saturday morning.
Kite flying was one of the major attractions enjoyed by everyone. Even our reluctant learners were willing to give it a try. A warm breezy morning made the experience even more enjoyable.
Sankranti celebration cannot possibly be deemed complete without sharing ‘tilgul’ , a mixture of jaggery and sesame seeds with children. Also tiny tots enthusiastically participated in kite making activity using different decorative material which they carried home as a remarkable takeaway. Thus experiencing different aspects of the festival, it has surely encouraged our learners to be open-minded, tolerant and respectful towards each other.
